Canva to Klaviyo, send any Canva design as an email (2026)
15 October 2026 · 6 min read
Canva connects to Klaviyo directly, but only one kind of Canva design goes across as an email. This guide covers what Canva’s own Klaviyo export does, where it stops, and how to send every other Canva design, from a social graphic to a JPG a client sent you, as a Klaviyo template.
The short answer
- Made with Canva’s Email design type? Publish it to Klaviyo from Canva’s Share menu. It arrives as an HTML template that you edit in Klaviyo’s HTML editor.
- Any other Canva design? Canva can only send it to Klaviyo as an image. Download it as a PNG or JPG, and Carvr turns it into a sliced, linked drag-and-drop template in about thirty seconds.
| Canva’s Klaviyo export | Carvr | |
|---|---|---|
| Canva designs it takes | The Email design type only[1] | Any design, downloaded as one PNG or JPG |
| What lands in Klaviyo | An HTML template, edited in Klaviyo’s HTML editor[1] | A drag-and-drop template, edited in Klaviyo’s usual editor |
| Size limits | One page per publish, 85KB at most[2] | Up to 2,400px wide and 30,000px tall |
| Cost | Included with Canva, plan rules differ by source (see below)[2] | Free for 5 email designs a month, then from $48 a month |
Route 1. Canva’s own Klaviyo export, for Email designs
Klaviyo announced a direct email export from Canva in April 2026. In a design made with Canva’s Email design type, open Share, choose Klaviyo and connect your Klaviyo account. Pick the page, name the template and select Publish now. Canva prepares the design as an HTML email template and sends it to Klaviyo, where you’ll find it by name under Content, Templates, ready to edit in Klaviyo’s HTML editor or use in a campaign or flow (Klaviyo Help Center).
What to know before you rely on it, as of October 2026.
- Email designs only. Klaviyo’s help says standard presentation or social media designs cannot be exported as email templates. Canva publishes those to Klaviyo in Image format instead (Canva Help Center).
- One page, 85KB. Canva publishes one page at a time, and the design has to be under 85KB (Canva Help Center).
- It lands as HTML. The template is edited as code, not in Klaviyo’s drag-and-drop editor. Klaviyo’s blog says it is working on converting imported HTML templates to drag-and-drop (Klaviyo blog).
- One account at a time. Each Canva user connects to one Klaviyo account at a time, and there can be one Canva Team per Klaviyo company, so an agency switching between client accounts disconnects and reconnects (Klaviyo Help Center).
- Check your Canva plan. The two help centers disagree. Klaviyo’s says the email export is available to free and Pro Canva users, and Canva’s lists Pro, Business and Enterprise. If Klaviyo is missing from your Share menu, the plan is the first thing to check.
There is also a separate Canva integration for images. It sends Canva designs to your Klaviyo image library as JPG, PNG or GIF files, up to 100 designs a day and 5 MB each (Klaviyo Help Center). That gives you images, not an email. You still cut the design, lay it out in a template, link each image and write its alt text in Klaviyo.
Route 2. Any Canva design, through Carvr
Carvr doesn’t care what kind of Canva design it was. A poster-length promo, a presentation page, an Instagram graphic or a finished email a client exported, if it is one image of the whole email, Carvr can make it a template.
- Download it from Canva. Choose Share, then Download, and pick PNG or JPG. Canva lets you set the size before downloading, and puts options such as scale and compression on its paid plans (Canva Help Center). For the sharpest result, download a 600px-wide email at 1200px wide.
- Upload it to Carvr. In the web app, pick the brand connected to your Klaviyo account and drop the image into the editor. Carvr keeps it at the size you upload, up to 2,400px wide and 30,000px tall.
- Slice. Click Slice All and Carvr cuts the design where a person would. Move, add or remove any line, and split a row into up to four columns, for example to give two products their own links.
- Alt text and links. Alt Text All writes alt text for every section with AI. Every section starts with the brand’s default link, and you change any one in a click.
- Upload to Klaviyo. Carvr compresses each image, uploads it and builds a native drag-and-drop template, which appears in Klaviyo under Content, Templates.
The template is Klaviyo’s own format, so your team can add text, product or personalised blocks around the image sections in the editor it already uses. The full walkthrough is in automatic email slicing. The same image can go to Omnisend or Mailchimp too, if the brand sends from there.
The trade-off is text. Words inside an image section are part of the image, so a copy change goes back through Canva and a fresh upload, and every image needs good alt text, which Carvr writes for you. If an email is mostly text, Canva’s HTML export or a native Klaviyo build may suit it better.
Which route should you use?
- Canva’s export if the email was built with Canva’s Email design type, is under 85KB, and you’re happy editing it as HTML.
- Carvr if the design is any other Canva type, came from a client as an image, needs to match the design exactly, or should land as a drag-and-drop template your team edits in Klaviyo.

Frequently asked questions
How do I import a Canva design into Klaviyo?
If it was made with Canva’s Email design type, publish it from Canva’s Share menu, choosing Klaviyo, and it arrives as an HTML template under Content, Templates. Any other Canva design can only go across as an image, so download it as a PNG or JPG and upload it to Carvr, which slices it and builds a drag-and-drop Klaviyo template with links and alt text.
How do I connect Canva to Klaviyo?
In a Canva email design, open Share and choose Klaviyo, then connect your Klaviyo account and allow access. As of October 2026, each Canva user can connect one Klaviyo account at a time, and Klaviyo allows one Canva Team per Klaviyo company.
Can I edit a Canva email in Klaviyo’s drag-and-drop editor?
Klaviyo’s help, as of October 2026, says Canva’s export arrives as an HTML template for Klaviyo’s HTML editor, and Klaviyo’s April 2026 blog says it is working on converting imported HTML templates to drag-and-drop. A template built by Carvr is a native drag-and-drop template from the start.
Why can’t I send my Canva design to Klaviyo as an email?
Canva’s Klaviyo export only turns Canva’s Email design type into an email template. Klaviyo’s help says standard presentation and social media designs cannot be exported as email templates, and Canva publishes those as images instead. Download the design as a PNG or JPG and Carvr turns it into a template.
What size should a Canva email design be for Klaviyo?
Design at 600px wide, the standard email width, and download at 1200px wide when you can, so images stay sharp on high-density screens. Carvr keeps your design at the size you upload and takes images up to 2,400px wide and 30,000px tall, so a long email fits in one file.
